Trials in A Hot Spell

Bolts of Lightning,
In shivering thuds
So tumultuous,
Violently
Shook the roof above—

Ceilings once
so sure and secure,
Now rendered ragged,
powerless and brittle.

your small world
Disturbed;
Darkness seized, and
False Light interrupted.

A Calling
So clear—

For reevaluation;
to break away from
self-afflicting routines,

Yet the mind,
feeble and deprived of
Purpose,

Slacks,
Missing
Old Sins—

Once the rain
Subsides, along will fade
Memories of
this most Intimate
and Loud
Reminder…

But Resist
We must,
Goodness and Love
take Discipline,

We Must refrain,
Hold ourselves
From the perpetual
Hollows.

Write it all down!
So that after
this gentle humidity
recedes,

The Will
Remembers
to Fight,
to Learn,
to Crawl,
and to eventually Walk

Under the boiling Sun.

Standing Upright,
We each create
Testaments of true Heart
and Devotion—

Who shall survive
Past our time
In the blistering trials of
Hot Spells.

Turn Your Love Way Up Inside

Turn your love way up inside
I know you like to hide away
Keep your head down, sleep the day away
You’re left in such a state
Keeps me so inclined
Just you turn your love way up inside

Now we got back, darling, don’t you wanna know
A little too soon, still a little bit soft
If I could make that bond, we could get to the bottom
It’s just you turn your love way up inside

Yeah, there’s always something
Oh, to making it true
I used to, baby
I don’t feel the strongest singing my own songs
And I used to, baby

Now that I forgot all those things I’ve been forgetting
Now that I said all those things I needed saying
I will come back, I won’t mind
It’s just you turn your love way up inside
To making it true, making it true
Like I used to, baby

There was always something
Oh, to making it true
I used to, baby
I don’t feel the strongest singing my own songs

Consume

Me wholly—
For it is only
Through an entire,
Unhesitating
Devour,

Could you
Truly taste
My Earthiness of
A Delicious Soul—

Let it
Unapologetically
Pulsate within
Your flow—

Consume me
Wholly and
Earnestly,
And an Eternity
Of nurturing
Awaits you.

Connotations of Work

“No, I don’t like work. I had rather laze about and think of all the fine things that can be done. I don’t like work—no man does—but I like what is in the work, the chance to find yourself; your own reality—for yourself, not for others—what no other man can ever know. They can only see the mere show, and never can tell what it really means.”

—Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness.
